Leadership goes beyond individual success; it entails utilising our skills and capabilities to make a positive impact in society.

Article by Ariana Andrews, dual member of Rotaract Auckland City and Rotary New Market.

Crystal Hayr (Auckland City Rotaract, Rotary Club of Manurewa-Takanini), Parul Goplani (Rotary Club of Melville) and Ariana Andrews (Auckland City Rotaract, Newmarket Rotary Club) are team Amaanyi. We firmly believe that leadership goes beyond individual success; it entails utilising our skills and capabilities to make a positive impact in society. As alumni of RYLA programmes in our districts, and participants of the 2023 RYLA Oceania ELEVATE Leadership Programme, we have an opportunity to further develop our leadership skills while supporting a worthy cause.

Kyebe is a small rural town in southwestern Uganda. This health facility serves both as a maternity clinic and general clinic for the local community. Unfortunately, over the years, it has deteriorated to the point the community no longer have a safe and clean healthcare clinic. Additionally, the closest alternative clinic is over 50km away, and poor road conditions after flooding can mean this clinic is the only option available for healthcare in the area.

Through our fundraising campaign, we are embracing the challenge of making a positive impact while actively developing our leadership skills. As participants of RYLA ELEVATE, we understand that leadership is a multi-faceted journey that encompasses personal growth, professional development, and community engagement. Our success as leaders is intertwined with the well-being of our local and global communities. By returning this facility to a usable state, we are directly impacting the lives of women and their families in Kyebe and its surrounding towns in the district of Masaka.

We invite you to support our journey – not only to contribute to a worthy cause but also to witness first-hand the transformative power of leadership in action. To learn more about this project, please visit https://www.kyebeuganda.org.au/

From Matthew and the Kyebe Team - we are very thankful to Ariana, Crystal and Parul for their work to help us with this project, and congratulate them on successfully completing the RYLA program!
